“Debating coal’s future” takes first place

I’m happy to announce that my most recent short documentary, “Debating coal’s future,” just took first place in the National Press Photographers Association’s monthly multimedia competition in the “team video” category. I worked on this story, which portrays the battle over coal plants in rural Ohio, last summer for Powering A Nation. My colleague Chris Carmichael assisted with shooting the story.
Meanwhile, Chris Carmichael took second place in the same category for his story, “Battle for the mountains,” about mountaintop removal in West Virginia. I assisted him with shooting that story, and coach Chad Stevens helped us both put our stories together.
Finally, the Powering A Nation site received second place in the “team multimedia project” category. Congrats to all of my colleagues!
